Earlier this year ( spring 2016 ) SAPHIRE has delivered a STCW-10 training unit to the nautical department of Nova College the Netherlands ( location Amsterdam area ) The unit represents an actual ship with characteritics such as a gangway and a bridge. The realistic design is crucial to the student experience when training on board of this unit. This because in many cases less time becomes available for a course and there is more to be learned! The new training unit is a true asset for both the students aswell as the institute who will see the quality of the training improve even further. SAPHIRE wishes Nova College the best of luck with their new training unit
SAPHIRE has had the pleasure of working with the STC’s project team in order to design, construct and build the Fire and Safety Training Centre which is property of the STC-BV Rotterdam Netherlands. In close cooperation with STC a state of the art fire and saftey training centre was built. Gas and wood fired training situations as well as facilities for mibile extinghuishers, makes this training centre a one stop shop in fire and safety training. The realisation of this facility is coherent with the path that STC has been following the last years. Being in the lead to offer the best education possible to students is what STC is known for since years now. SAPHIRE has been a proud partner in projects passed, projects under construction right now and projects to come with the STC-Group.
On the 7th of July SAPHIRE handed over the pump-alignment and flow-analysis training site to STC Brielle. The STC BV ( Shipping and Transport College Netherlands ) has ordered the development of such a practical training site with SAPHIRE-CTC and in cooperation with STC-teamleader Harold Wennekes, SAPHIRE developed, manufactured and installed the components. The practical site will be active starting next school year.
With the addition of extra team members, the office in Brielle got too crowded. Therefor the management went on a search for a new location for SAPHIRE-CTC. This location was found in the city of Maassluis NL next to SAPHIRE’s production location that is was already in use since 2012. Having a new location SAPHIRE can now really focus on developing product and projects that will benefit the clients of SAPHIRE. Looking forward to meeting you at our new offfice!
On Friday the 22nd of May, Falck Netherlands ( location Maasvlakte ) has commissioned her new helicopter training facility. In close cooperation with SAPHIRE, Falck now has a trainingfacility at which students can undergo the OPITO certified training for Helicopter Landing Officer ( HLO). The existing platform, which has been designed and built by SAPHIRE some years ago, is functioning very much to the liking of Falck which resulted in favouring SAPHIRE for this new project. In a very short timespan, SAPHIRE together with the management and instructors of FALCK Netherlands have made a complete scope that served as the base for this trainingfacility. By combining the capacity of the existing helicopter platform together with the new facility, total training capacity for helicopter-related training has doubled. SAPHIRE congratulates Falck on their new aquired helicopter platform and we wish them many safe training sessions.

Falck RISC has commissioned MBL-CTC to develop a training unit especially aimed at fire brigade commanders.
The emphasis within this full-scale training module is the strategy a commander should follow in order to give the fire under control signal as soon as possible. There are various application options available within the unit which include demonstrating full and sub-surface fires, how to operate an ox-head in a rim seal fire and training for extinguishing procedures for various liquid fires. In addition to all these options, there are many other advantages over conventional full-scale training, of which the most obvious is the much lower environmental impact during the training. Moreover, the fuel consumption is very low which means that the training costs per student are much lower without affecting the quality of the training.
Falck RISC has high expectations of this newest unit in its already extensive training centre.
Despite the credit crunch that has affected the world in all areas, there are still some branches of industry that are flourishing. One of these branches is wind, or renewable energy. Saphire-CTC has managed, once again, to reach a new and special milestone in this field. Falck Safety Services has decided to develop the complete RET (renewable energy training) project in cooperation with Saphire-CTC.
Falck Safety Services has placed it full faith in Saphire-CTC for the implementation of a very prominent project in the world of safety training. The project consists of 5 structures which include a life-size wind turbine, a 12-meter high staircase and an aerial mast for climbing training. All of these elements will be manufactured by MBL-Holland in its own factory and will then be placed on the Beerweg site, at the Maasvlakte.
The complete project has been delivered to Falck Safety Services and had been certified by Lloyds without a single comment or amendment. Congratulations on a wonderful result!
Saphire CTC has recently supplied our base with a lovely sample of engineering and construction. Commissioned by the STC-Group, Saphire CTC designed and supplied the entire “liquid cargo”-practical training environment that STC wanted to develop at Kerkhoekstraat in Brielle. This is their new and completely renovated home. This practical training environment is one of the very few training units in the world, where the training for the transhipment of liquid cargoes from a tanker to the dockside and vice-versa can be offered in a completely real environment. All of the elements available, from the tank to the transhipment pump, are the real versions as used in shipping. This means that the gap between training and actual practice is reduced further and that students are ready for the real work sooner. The practical training environment will be officially opened in the second half of 2013.
